Halloween crafts are great for families or those wanting to decorate their homes on a budget. With thousands of creepy crafts to choose from, there’s something for every aesthetic, ability and age group. If you have an idea of what you want to create, you can search for relevant tutorials on Google, YouTube and the likes. Or, if you’re looking for inspiration, we recommend heading to Pinterest for ideas – this board is a great starting point with over 400 Halloween craft ideas.

#2 Bewitching bakes

This family-friendly activity is great fun for all ages, plus you’ll get a tasty treat at the end – a win-win if you ask us! If you’re more of a visual learner, TikTok has plenty of free Halloween baking tutorials to choose from. Or, if you prefer to read your recipes step-by-step, websites such as Delish, BBC Good Food and Tesco all offer their very own Halloween recipe sections.

#3 Thrilling theme parks

This October, theme park goers can experience thrills on and off the rides thanks to scare mazes and live actors. One of the biggest scare attractions in the UK is Alton Towers, offering their very own Scarefest. Visit the theme park between 14th – 31st October to experience some of their biggest attractions in the dark, an interactive Trick O’ Treat Town with HARIBO, a range of spooky scare mazes, a unique dudgeon experience, and a freaky fun zone and CBeebies Land Monster Ball for the little ones! Located just an hour away from our Leicester and Ashby-de-la-Zouch storage sites, Alton Towers is well worth a visit to get in the spirit of thrilling fun this Halloween!

#4 Devilish drive-in cinema

Drive-in and luna cinemas are a great way to experience your favourite Halloween flicks on the big screen. If you have a unit at our Hereford site, you’re in luck…On the 29th October, you can watch Hocus Pocus at Hereford Racecourse – just a 5 minute drive away! You can grab tickets here for under a fiver, but be quick as places are limited!

#5 Horrifying home cinema

If you prefer to experience thrills from the comfort of your own home, why not create your very own home cinema? Invite a few friends along, decorate your house using some of the creepy craft ideas from earlier and put your newly found baking skills to use & DIY some spooky movie snacks. For extra movie-magic authenticity, there are a range of reasonably priced projectors on the market that can even project from your phone!

#6 Frightening fancy dress

There’s nothing more quintessentially Halloween than dressing up. Whether you’re DIY-ing costumes for trick-or-treating with your family or you’re keen to make an impression at your Halloween party with a ready-made outfit and some killer makeup, there are plenty of tutorials available for free on YouTube, so pick your poison and get creative!

#7 Prime pumpkin patches

Pumpkin patches are a great way to get into the spooky season spirit without raising your heart rate. And if you don’t have a pumpkin patch nearby, you can skip the first part and get involved with the real fun: pumpkin carving.

#8 Ghastly ghost hunt

If a racing heart is what you’re looking for, put yourself amongst the walking dead with a ghost hunt. There are plenty on offer around the UK, with settings including castles, houses and even outdoor walks. If you’ve got a storage container at our Carmarthen site, why not give Dinefwr Castle a look? It’s only half an hour’s drive and is rumoured to be haunted by Lady Elinor Cavendish. And if you’re at our Hereford site, you can reach Croft Castle in 30 minutes. Stratford storers are also in luck – the Falstaff Museum Experience is just under 15 minutes from our site and allows visitors to join an overnight ghost hunt complete with vigils, experiments and ghost hunting equipment.

#10 Enchanting escape room 

Whilst escape rooms are open all year round, many venues are stepping it up a gear for Halloween. World of Escapes, located just under 30 minutes from our Leicester site, is offering a Halloween-themed escape experience packed full of surprises and paranormal stories.
